The verbs in English are the words that are used to indicate actions, existence, possession or spirit.
In English, infinitives are built with the word to:
- To walk
- To stay
- To play
The conjugation of regular verbs in English It is simpler than in Spanish:
Present simple: (Present simple)
- I / you / we / they: play
- He / she / it: plays
In other words, except for the third person singular, verbs in the present are equal to the infinitive.
In the third person singular, a s in the end. If the verb ends in Y not preceded by a vowel, it is replaced by ie before adding the ending s.
Present continuous (present continuous)
The construction of this verb is as follows:
Verb + verb to be conjugated + main verb ending in ing
- I am playing.
- He is playing
- We are playing.

Simple past
In regular verbs, the ending is added ed to form the past. This rule also applies to the third person singular.
If the verb ends in Y not preceded by a vowel, it is replaced by i before adding the ending ed.
- I played.

- They played.
There are also irregular verbs that are conjugated differently. These verbs must be memorized as there is no rule.
