The letter W It is one of the last in the alphabet, specifically number twenty-three. It is a very particular letter, because together with the k they are the least frequent letters in the Spanish language, while they are widely used in the English language. For example: Walter, wifi, show. 

The name given to the letter W differs in different countries: it can be called double U,  double v, double veor even double v. This letter has some characteristics that make it similar to vowels and others more closely related to consonants. As for its pronunciation, it is somewhat similar to U.

The incorporation of the W into Spanish

It is clear then that the letter W is typical of foreign voices. Although words with graphic adaptations are admitted by the RAE and included in dictionaries, they are very recent additions.

Many words related to new technologies begin with W. In this way the letter W has begun to acquire a frequency of use in the Spanish language that was totally unusual for it a few years ago. For example: web waffle.
