The gastro- prefix or gastr- (from Greek gastrós or gaster, which means "stomach") refers to things related to the stomach, the organ that is part of the digestive system and where digestion occurs. For example: gastritis, gastrointestinal.
Since it is a prefix referring to the stomach, it is often used in medicine.

Examples of words with the prefix gastro-
- Gastralgia: Stomach ache.
- Gastric: Which has to do with the stomach.
- Gastricism: Certain states of significant gravity of the stomach.
- Gastritis: Inflammation of the stomach.

Not all words that begin with gastro- syllables correspond to this prefix. In certain countries or localities the term gastro- It is used to refer to everything related to gastronomy. Hence, words are believed that, although they do not appear in the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy, are used and understood by all the inhabitants of a certain place.
