The prefix des- means denial or Wrong Way of the accompanying word. It is one of the most used negation prefixes. For example: desoccupied (who has no occupation), deshairstyle (that is not combed)

Uses of the prefix des-
The negation prefix des- can be used to mark:
- Negative charge. For example: desaccommodate.
- Inconvenient or inconvenient. For example: desweather.
- Partial or total loss. For example: desqualify.

Not all words that begin with the syllables des– correspond to this prefix. There are some exceptions:
